With the purchase of a USA Hockey membership (you know, for all the hockey that I play...), I got to sit behind the bench to shoot photos at the first game of this weekend's tournament. The Black Diamonds tied the Wildfire 3 to 3 in the most physical game I've seen from two women's league teams. Basically, the refs just decided that it was too much work to call penalties, and when each team realized this, things got more and more aggro. Full-on checking, high sticking... I even saw punches thrown on a couple occasions. It made for some good entertainment.
