Back to Lambs

After taking some time off due to an MCL issue and mystery back pains, I'm back in the backcountry. Jamon and Pip went with me to Lambs Canyon in search of untracked snow. We found plenty, but didn't have enough time to do more than one lap. Gotta go back and get some more. On a very positive note (for me) Jamon was thrashed from running a 15K yesterday, so I didn't have to chase him uphill all day like I usually do. By the way, Pip can ski!

Education Day

You learn something every time you go into the mountains, but some days surpass the rest. Going out with avalanche forecaster Grant Helgeson and skiing when conditions get sketchy is always a very educational experience. I feel like I learned more about avalanches today than I did in any avalanche class I ever took. Plus, we got to ski some sweet powder in Lambs Canyon

Butler Fork

Just a chill half-day in Butler fork. Lesson for the day: you cannot ski like Pip, so don't even try. You'll just hurt yourself. Marginal snow conditions, but still pretty fun.

Maple

I went to Maple Canyon on a warm day with Rick And Jess. Although everything was falling apart, we still managed to get in a few good climbs, including Jess hiking Cobble Crusher (WI4/5) in very good style.

High-Danger Days

In search of new low-angle terrain to ski on days with high avalanche danger, Jamon, Alex and I did a dawn-patrol into lower Day's fork. We found un-touched powder in safe places, so the next day we came back and did it again.
