The Wasatch had a very interesting blend of conditions today. Lots of snow from Friday morning's storm, but very warm temps to go with it. Craig Cutler came along with the standard Jamon and Adam crew, and added a multi-generational element in terms of both age of people and age of gear. Craig is a walking testament to the fact that a base layer sewn in 1963 still works fine, and he's a pretty damn good skier too. The three of us went into Butler Fork to bust out as many laps as we could before it got so hot that the snow turned to Quickcrete, which didn't take too long. Despite all the people who called in SICK! yesterday to go skiing (and the group of six that we encountered), we managed to find fresh tracks on every single lap. My friend Kevin was kind enough to lend me his pair of Megawatts to try out, and I absolutely fell in love with those things (though I'm not a fan of the Fritschi bindings at all). You simply cannot sink these skis, they turn effortlessly, and you basically feel like you're cheating. This discovery added a lot of dollars to the list of ski gear I need to get before next season. But I'm definitely sticking with Dynafit bindings.
