Granite
After the long ski tour yesterday, Alex and I decided that we wanted something a little more chill for Sunday. We went into LCC to soak up the sun while we climbed some mellow trad routes and shook out the granite cobwebs. Other than random icefall and getting pretty lost when one pitch turned out not to have any anchors, the day was pretty uneventful.

I Ain't Heard No Fat Lady!
Just when I was about to write off winter, another storm hit SLC and gave us another taste of fluffy snow. Without any real plan, the I met Ben and Will at Alex's house for breakfast. While we at some killer french toast, Ben spent his time talking us into a tour that he'd done before. We skinned up Broad's Fork, past the hoards or people gang-banging Bonkers, went over the saddle on the North ridge of Dromedary Peak and dropped into Sidewinder. Despite the sun baking down on us, the snow was pretty damn nice. After a nice long run we put some more calories in our bellies and headed for the BCC/LCC ridge with plans to ski Yer Crazy. Unfortunately, when we got there it was completely clagged in and visibility dropped to about 20 feet. We waited for about a half hour until things cleared enough for Ben, who had done the run several times before, was able to use the extra ten feet of vision to ski the thing and give us a trail to follow to the bottom. Then we skied past Lake Blanch and out the Mill B trail toward the truck and eventually some pretty bad ass beer and burgers. Special thanks to Ben for hijacking our trip and taking us on a kickass tour.

Go Foam or Go Home
We used to have regular sessions in OGIO's quite-nice foam pit until legal issues forced them to close it to everyone including their own athletes. My most recent conversation with them exposed the fact that they were in fact removing it for good and using the warehouse space for warehouse stuff, and we all went into morning. Then a friend of a friend found a much smaller but still very fun pit down in Orem. Today some of the bike crew went for the first time and found it to be well worth the drive.

First Creekend of the Year
The first time heading down to the Creek on any given season is always a serious ass kicking, and this one was no different. Neither Andy or I had been climbing regularly for a good few months, so we're both rather out of shape and neither of us did anything worthy of bragging. This was Andy's first time at the Creek and only his second desert trip ever, so I expected to be doing a bunch of ropegunning, but jumped straight on the sharp end on pitch one and got in a lot of personal firsts including his first lead fall on gear. Good on ya son!
