Morning Sesh

I hooked up with Steve and Carston for yet another Draper sesh, this time early before work. I finally feel good on the bike. Jumps and corners don't seem like foreign concepts, and there's actually some sense of flow. Hurray for progress.

Practice, Practice, Practice

More Draper laps (this time with Steve) in an effort to feel good on a bike again. Jumping is still a bit spooky, but it's getting better. Cornering still needs lots of work, but at least my bike has two fully functioning brakes now.

Mule Hollow

Quick post-work lap up a route in Mule Hollow with Andy. Neither of us had ever been to this place before, and it was definitely worth the visit. there's a fairly long, steep approach, and all the routes are in the 5.7 range, so it's a good place to move fast and try to get in a lot of ground in as little time as possible. It's definitely going to become part of the alpine training circuit.

Two sports = shitty at both

I've long held the belief that if you want to be good at something (by real world standards), you have to pick one sport per season and concentrate. Despite my last half-dozen days of biking, I've really been concentrating on climbing. Alex, on the other hand, has been biking. He got way faster this year, and today's ride at draper pretty much convinced me that he'll beat me at the Wolf DH in a couple weekends.

American Fork

First day in AF this year. Hooked up with Andy, Alex, Cece, Chad, and Tom and went to the only place where there weren't fourty people or blazing sun. Good times were had by all.

Riding and wrenching at Sundance

I met Craig and associated crew (Josh, Hot Chad, Tim, and others who's names escape me... I really gotta get better with names) up at Sundance for the first lift-served riding of the year. The riding was really good and we pretty much rode the DH race trail over and over again to get dialed on the techy stuff. Unfortunately, I though we were going to Draper until about 10-minutes before I left the house, so I didn't have time to switch my bike over to a dual-crown fork and beefy wheelset. As a result of this (and other ongoing issues) my bike ended the day with two brake reservoirs which leak brake fluid, a ganked chain guide, a broken spoke, a flat tire, and a blown fork. Guess it's time to give the SlopeStyle some overdue love. Thanks to everyone for being patient with the photos. I promise that I'll get a dedicated camera pack to make things a little quicker.

Draper

Pretty standard post-work Draper sesh with Josh, Grant, and one other dude who's name I forgot (sorry, I told ya man). Trails are in good condition tanks to the wet weather followed by a couple days without any rain. I'm finally starting to feel at home on a bike again, but I'm definitely not up to snuff for racing. Gotta train.
